Join our unit Experimental Toxicology and Ecology as a Ph.D. student starting in Q1/2022. During the 36-month Ph.D. project you will work on the topic "Analysis of Thyroid Toxicity Data by integrative approach to testing and assessment (IATA)". As a Ph.D. student you will be part of a highly motivated team in an international setting that focuses on in vitro toxicology and biokinetics. You will work on one of the most emerging topics in toxicology - the investigation of endocrine effects. Therefore, you will be trained in different in vitro assays to predict thyroid interacting effects and you will conduct hands-on research to further develop, adapt as well as improve methods and expand the data base of reference chemicals. Furthermore, you will assess the data also from a kinetic perspective by e.g. PBPK modelling. Evaluating the appropriate combination of different assays to predict the biological relevance of thyroid interacting effects will be another one of your exciting tasks. Besides, you will summarize the data in several manuscripts to be submitted in peer-review journals. Your contribution is an important aspect of the hazard and risk assessment of chemicals with potential endocrine properties and will help us to ensure the safe use of innovative products. graduate degree in toxicology, pharmacy, biology, biochemistry, or related disciplines experience in cell culture experiments (different mammalian cell lines) and know-how in different biological/toxicological readouts like fluorometric/luminometric measurements and imaging technologies ideally some experience and interest in mathematics and statistics; R know-how is preferable sound English and German language skills to be able to clearly communicate scientific results to an interdisciplinary team motivated and creative team player with a keen interest in exploring a broad range of topics From day one you will be part of the BASF family.
