Functional Safety Engineer (m/f/d)

The CSA Group Bayern GmbH in Strasskirchen, member of the CSA Group, has one of the largest and most modern testing laboratories in Europe. It is accredited by numerous bodies and therefore offers extensive testing and certification possibilities in the following areas: Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Automotive/EMC, Safety, Environmental Simulation, Wireless Communication Technology, Metrology, Power Tools and Global Market Access (product approvals in more than 200 countries). A Functional Safety Engineer (m/f/d) is required to join our team working on the assessment of equipment and systems against published standards. Successful applicants will be customer-focused and have a background in Software, with with knowledge of Functional Safety, specifically IEC 61508, IEC 61511, and ISO 13849 as well as Automotive Functional Safety, specifically ISO 26262. Experience in SIL determination, FMEA, MTBF and software languages such as C/C++ and MISRA C are also desirable. In addition, good communication, problem solving and project management skills are essential. The successful applicant will be based out of one of CSA's Germany Locations Bayern, Frankfurt or Hannover. Assessment of equipment for certification against published standards Provide advice to clients as appropriate Specify and in some cases conduct appropriate test programmes in accordance with the relevant standards Estimate costs and specify the requirements for test samples Conduct on-site assessments and/or test work at the clients’ premises.  This may  involve foreign travel Prepare reports and certification documents Ensure that project work is conducted within budget and in accordance with in-house procedures Represent CSA on relevant technical committees In addition to the responsibilities and duties listed, the successful candidate may be required to undertake further duties assigned by the Management Team from time to time.  There will be a requirement to travel to other Group or client’s premises, both in the UK and overseas. A degree in electrical/electronic/software engineering Experience in embedded systems and embedded software Experience in C, C++, MISRA C, or a similar language Experience in Functional Safety product assessment, specifically IEC 61508, IEC 61511, and ISO 13849 as well Automotive Functional Safety (ISO 26262) preferred Ability to understand and analyse both analogue and digital circuitry Good written and verbal communication (English), administration and interpersonal skills, together with a high level of computer literacy (Word, Excel etc) and attention to detail The ability to work as an individual and as part of a team Ability and willingness to travel for short periods, mainly overnight but up to 1 week occasionally.
