Job Title: (Senior) Associate Editor, Nature Human Behaviour Location: London or Berlin Closing date: 20th April 2020 Nature Human Behaviour seeks an Associate or Senior Editor with a background in social psychology or allied disciplines to join its editorial team. Launched in January 2017, Nature Human Behaviour publishes research of outstanding significance into any aspect of individual or collective human behaviour. The journal has a strong multidisciplinary identity, encompassing research across the social, biological, health, and physical sciences. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Editor and play an important role in shaping the content and profile of the journal. They will participate in all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection and peer review, commissioning and editing News & Views and Reviews, and writing for the journal. A key aspect of the job is liaising with the research community through laboratory visits and international conferences, and therefore willingness to travel is essential.We are seeking applicants with a PhD in social psychology or allied disciplines, with superior abilities in the communication of scientific ideas, and willingness and ability to learn new fields. We are particularly interested in candidates with a multidisciplinary background and broad interests in human behaviour research, as the role involves engaging with research in multiple diverse disciplines.  This is a full-time position. No prior editorial experience is required, although applicants with significant editorial experience will be considered for a Senior Editor position.The position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis and will be located in our London or Berlin offices. To help us to build on the success of this journal,  we are seeking a biologist interested in translational research and who has a critical eye, a deep understanding of their subject and interests beyond, and who can think on their feet as (Senior) Associate Editor (m/f/d) Cell diversity in health and disease / Tissue engineering Handling original research papers, and working closely with other editors on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection and overseeing peer review. Making well-reasoned editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts in the light of expert advice. Determining the representation of their subject in the journal. Liaising extensively with editors at other journals in the Nature family and with experts in the international scientific community. Attending conferences and visiting research institutions. Commission and edit Reviews, and write Editorials. Either a PhD (or equivalent) in a field related to the applications of single cell based approaches to study cell diversity. This could include, but is not limited to, development or application of experimental and analytical tools for single cell based analysis in the context of studying human health and disease.  Or a PhD (or equivalent) in a field related to tissue engineering and repair. This could include, but is not limited to, development of biomaterials and scaffolds development for cells, and biologically active molecules and evaluation of their potential integration into functional tissues. Significant research experience is preferred but not essential. A thorough understanding of recent trends and developments in the field is essential. A passion for science and a thirst to learn more. You must be able to demonstrate the breadth of your interest in scientific research, both within and beyond your speciality. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be fluent in English (written and spoken). The ability to read and assess the novelty, context and implications of research submitted to the journal from different areas of this discipline. Be eager to travel and meet scientists worldwide, learn more about them and their research, and help them learn more about us and what we are looking for in the papers we seek to publish.
