Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a lithium ion battery expert to join our industrial specialties/ performance specialties division at our Düsseldorf site. Lithium Ion Battery Expert/ Scientist (m/w/d) In your role as an expert and employee, you are responsible for planning, work and management of projects for structure-property relation understanding and -on this basis- for the combination of innovative materials for lithium-based battery cells together with our research center/ battery laboratory in Wilmington/US. You will be able to develop and set up standard methods to characterize the battery materials. You work closely with internal departments and external partners from industry and academia. Technical support for performance specialties applications with a focus (but not limited to) on batteries and specialty coatings. Interpretation of customer needs in laboratory tests and development of necessary solutions. General work in the laboratory, cooperation with the technology, marketing and sales staff within the Industrial Specialties Group. Educated to degree level in chemistry or material science or in battery technologies. You have good knowledge and skills in the field of polymers, metalorganic chemistry, preferably in the batteries segment, combined with an excellent understanding of the respective application technology. You have a 3-5 years experience in coating techniques and surface modification instruments. Excellent written and oral communication skills Team spirit and your great motivation to drive innovation forward. Ability to travel occasionally (~ 20%) to customers to present current innovations and scouting future development. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel specifically); knowledge of SAP, Salesforce is an advantage Good interpersonal and presentation skills to share development work within the organization and with customers.
