Engineer (m/f/d) Integration, Verification and Qualification

Thales Alenia Space in Germany specializes since 2011 in integrating, verifying, and qualifying large and complex ground segments, the design, development, and manufacturing of space payloads, ground simulators, test platforms, and electrical ground support equipment (EGSE).We are currently looking for a dynamic and passionate Integration, Verification and Qualification (IVQ) Engineer with a software or system engineering background to join our Galileo IVQ team within Thales Alenia Space Deutschland. Together with the IVQ team the IVQ Engineer will be responsible to prove the qualification status of the Galileo Ground Mission Segment (GMS) and the Galileo Security Facility (GSF) towards the customer. Generating test procedures that fulfil the customer requirements Installation, integration and configuration of software and hardware deliveries Identification and follow-up of system anomalies arising from test and integration activities Execution of tests witnessed by end customer Production of test documentation including results and evidences Preparation and participation of test readiness reviews with the customer Contributing to, maintaining and extending the test environment and tools Supporting onsite integration and test in the Galileo Control Centres in Fucino (Italy) and Oberpfaffenhofen (Germany) Degree in Engineering (System Engineering, Computer Science or similar) Proven experience of 3–5 years in design and development of medium and large hardware and software systems, previous experience in system integration and verification testing would be an advantage Experience in integration and verification testing of medium and large hardware and software systems, experience in classified systems verification would be an advantage Network expertise for configuration, architecture and analysis in a Linux or LynxOS environment, TCP/IP protocols, firewall and switch configuration and management is mandatory Proven knowledge in scripting languages (JavaScript, Bash, Python) is mandatory, software engineering and programming in C/C++ an advantage Practical experience with database systems as MySQL, PostgreSQL or MariaDB Experience in setup, modification and usage of computer hardware and virtualization Ability to travel and spend periods located on partner site in France necessary At Thales Alenia Space you work in an international environment based on team work, innovation and know-how. The Systems Engineer will be involved in the design and development of a Galileo Element with crypto functions and thus needs a sound background understanding of involved SW-technologies and architecture for security applications. System and functional understanding and analysis of user requirements in order to determine the overall development lifecycle, system and software specification, system interfaces, and the verification concept. Development and elaboration of the element/component architecture and the detailed design Follow-up of the SW design and development according to the baselined specification, interface and verification documents Defining verification strategy, detailing and planning of integration and qualification steps Conducting the element testing, qualification and acceptance campaigns, support to the segment testing activities Technical planning of the development life-cycle aligned with the system development Estimation and conduction of the development activities Analysis and correction of anomalies raised Establish the product documentation Degree in engineering sciences, computer science or similar Proven experience in developing small and medium systems with software components, comprising processing, simulations, cybersecurity, timing accuracy, communication units and HMI (2–3 years) Proven experience in DOORS, familiarity with model-based engineering an advantage Experience in security driven software systems Experience of network and network protocols, TCP/IP, RHEL Linux (1-3 years), focus on security is an advantage Process-oriented and self-sustained working style (e.g. Agile principles), value pulled engineering is an advantage At Thales Alenia Space you work in an international environment based on team work, innovation and know-how. Senior Firmware Engineer (m/f/d)

The Firmware Engineer will be involved in developing the signal processing within a new payload for space-based IoT applications where a deep understanding of involved HW and firmware technologies as well as the interfaces to the software processing is required. It also involves the following tasks: Understanding of payload requirements and performances Defining the RF/signal processing/algorithms, specifying the firmware, the interfaces between HW and FW including low-level drivers, and the verification concept Timing analysis Use of ISE tools for VHDL implementation, targeting Xilinx FPGA devices Functional and performance testing, debugging of FPGA firmware on target hardware board Supporting the development of an in-the-field test bed Application of development, verification and configuration control processes Work-planning aligned with the payload development, project-specific reporting Supporting technical proposals and hardware system design Degree in Electronics (preferably RF and digital electronics) or equivalent Several years of experience in industry of designing and architecting firmware systems Strong FPGA tools knowledge including timing closure for FPGAs Familiar with Vivado, Mentor ModelSim, MATLAB HDL Coder Familiar with Xilinx FPGA and SoC devices like Zynq Ultrascale+ including 3rd party IP Knowledge of high-speed serial interfaces such as PCIe, Aurora, JESD204B Knowledge of on-chip bus AMBA AXI Knowledge of Git Workflow Knowledge of bench testing and hardware debugging Ability to optimize RF signal processing algorithms for limited FPGA resources Application knowledge in communications, high-speed data transfer and signal processing Experience with software defined radio architectures is a benefit Knowledge of hardware/RF electronics is a benefit Good team spirit and ability to work in an international environment Systematic approach to analyze customer requirements and to establish customer solutions Ability to co-ordinate and instruct a small team of firmware and software developers Fluent in German and English is essential (written technical reports and spoken) At Thales Alenia Space you work in an international environment based on team work, innovation and know-how.
